Madrid, which was a rather inconspicuous rural settlement nestled amidst lush greenery until it was declared the capital of the Kingdom of Spain, is one of the youngest capitals in Europe. The city is captivating visitors with its architecture that showcases the expansion phases and different artistic forms that have ruled during various periods. The capital Madrid has the most impressive night illumination in the country. During our tour, we will admire the magnificent statue of the goddess of nature, Cybele, depicted on a chariot pulled by lions at the Cybele Fountain, and suddenly find ourselves on Gran Via, the most luxurious street of the 1900s. This elegant neighborhood will welcome you with both its Art Nouveau and Modernist architecture as well as its colorful and vibrant life. Then we will head to the magnificent Palacio Real, the most powerful yet also the most historically and artistically rich palace in the city. Here, we will also see the world-renowned gourmet market Mercado de San Miguel, which is regarded as a meeting point for pleasant conversations and quick dinners. After San Miguel, we will head to Plaza Mayor, the most valuable square in the city, which is truly an architectural symphony. At the end of our tour, we will visit Puerta del Sol (Sun Gate), named after the city gate located in the east during the Muslim period of the city, witnessing the sunrise. We will enjoy a colorful break in this square, which is the busiest place in Madrid, where crowds have not diminished for centuries, and after spending some enjoyable free time among street artists and musicians, we will transfer to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
After having breakfast at our hotel and completing the check-out process, we will set off towards the city of Toledo. Located in the Castilla - La Mancha region, 70 km southwest of Madrid, Toledo is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in Spanish history. With its appearance bearing traces of all the civilizations that have come and gone in Spain, it offers unforgettable memories to its visitors. The city, surrounded by the Tajo River and built on steep, protected cliffs, has always been a valuable city throughout history, from the Romans to the Visigoths, from Al-Andalus to the Kingdom of Spain, and is surrounded by high walls. At the same time, Toledo was the center of Judaism in the Iberian Peninsula until the end of the 15th century; it houses many significant structures, including the oldest synagogue still standing in Europe, numerous churches converted from mosques, and the magnificent cathedral where Spain was religiously governed, creating a mosaic of intertwined three Abrahamic faiths and peoples. Until the Empire moved the capital to Madrid in 1561, Toledo was a political, cultural, commercial, and military center and served as an inspiration for Cervantes' immortal work, Don Quixote of La Mancha, the majority of which takes place in and around this city, which is why Toledo is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Among the places we will see during our visit are the famous viewpoint where you can photograph the city's magnificent 16th-century appearance like a painting, the San Martin Bridge, the San Juan Monastery, the Jewish Quarter, Santo Tome Church, Santa Maria Cathedral Square, the shopping street where you can find everything unique to the city, and the central Zocodover Square. In the free time after the tour, you can taste the marzipan, a specialty of Toledo, and try the Manchego cheese, a matured sheep’s cheese known worldwide and named after this region. As a gift, you can examine swords, knives, or accessories made using traditional methods, famous for producing the most renowned steel of the medieval period, which even Hollywood films have used. Additionally, you can purchase filigree products adorned with beautiful motifs made from golden wires in various settings, inherited from the Andalusian period, called Shami Work (Damasquinado).
