Tour Program
We start our Edirne Tour journey by taking you from the points we have determined by buses. We arrive in Edirne after a journey of about three hours. Our first stop in Edirne, which was the capital of the Ottoman Empire for 88 years between 1365 and 1453, is the Karaağaç district, the old summer resort of Edirne, known as the small Parisi of Edirne with its nightlife and features known to foreigners in the 19th century Ottomans. After being occupied by Bulgaria and then Greek during the Balkan wars, it was taken back by Greece as war reparations with the Treaty of Lausanne. This magnificent district, which is only five kilometers from Edirne, fascinates us with its Greek-era houses and streets under trees. After visiting the historical Meriç Bridge, the Lausanne Monument and the Historical Karaağaç Train Station, built by Architect Kemalettin Bey, we take a break at the Kır café.
After this break, we visit Bayezid II Complex and Health Museum, an important historical place in Edirne. In the 16th century, it treated the mentally ill with the sound of water, music and beautiful smells, and in 2004 it was awarded the European Museum by the Council of Europe. At this point, we end our tour by photographing the depictions and figures in the Health Museum. After the health museum, we enter the Palace. During our tour inside the palace, we visit the historical Kırkpınar oil wrestling square, the Justice Pavilion, the Fatih and Saray bridges, and the ruins of Edirne Palace, where Mehmet and Cem Sultan, the two important sultans of the Ottoman Empire, were born and reigned, with the educational and informative narrations of our guide. Babüssade, Palace kitchens, Cihannuma Pavilion and Kum Pavilion. After this trip, we go to the city center and taste world-famous dishes such as Edirne Liver Skillet and Edirne Meatballs. After dinner, the development of Ottoman religious architecture can be seen in the Üç Şerefeli Mosque, which is famous for its door. We visit the Old Mosque (Ulu Camii), famous for its writings, and the Selimiye Mosque, which Mimar Sinan said was his masterpiece. After the Arasta Bazaar tour, we give you free time and the opportunity to shop in Keçecizade to buy Edirne's famous Deva-i Misk Dessert, Almond Paste, Edirne Cheese, mirrored bridal broom and local fruit soaps. After our free time, we move on to our return journey to Istanbul after our guide has extensively visited the Şükrü Pasha Monument and the Monument of the Region.
